Compound movements or combination lifts combine two or more movements performed uninterrupted succession in a single year. For example, take two familiar exercises. The squat, which is notorious for packing explosion effects fat and lean muscle. Now throw in a shoulder press and the compound of squat / press release contains even more of your whole body and becomes downright merciless. In other words, compound movements explosively burn fat and increase lean muscle mass, and activate more muscles in a short time. Prioritize your personal workouts with compound movements like these rather than single joint exercises to supposedly "isolate a muscle" and your good to go. Remember that the body energy of the reaction:

Confession time. I have a love-hate relationship with these exercises. Love for the ridiculous results they provide to fat loss, strength training and conditioning.
